Another distinction between the different types of wallpaper is made regarding the possibility of being washable or not. The washable ones are those that allow the user to act on stains or accumulated dirt. The non-washable ones require replacing the affected area if one wants to remove the defect.

One can delve even deeper into the washable condition since some types of wallpaper can be scrubbed and others cannot. In the first case, a deeper cleaning can be performed and one can further address the stain without affecting the paper. In the second case, this operation cannot be performed if one wants to maintain the quality of the paper.
